I always intended to visit my Aunt Maudie--my late father Curtis would have loved my doing that--but I never got around to it. As anyone who reads this knows more than I, Maudie was an exceptional woman, the longest surviving child of an exceptional family. When I was eight or ten years old, she came to visit my family in Richmond, and I was allowed to stay up late talking with her, and my memory is she loved to talk.

What a gift God had for me, when I began to know and be known by Maudie Miller Pettus! We shared stories about our past with awe about how Our Heavenly Father had worked in it all!
